Castello di Gussago La Santissima - Via Manica, 8, 25064 Gussago (BS)
Franciacorta DOCG NobleNoir originates in the heart of the beautiful wine region of Brescia, one of the most renowned in Italy. The municipality of Gussago, with its historic winemaking tradition and picturesque landscapes, is the beating heart of this excellent production. NobleNoir is a Blanc de Noir Brut, a white sparkling wine made exclusively from black grapes. In this case, it is the very noble Pinot Noir, a grape variety known for its complexity and versatility that is perfectly suited to the climatic conditions of Franciacorta. Pinot Noir gives the finished wine a solid structure, a rich aromatic range and a good capacity for ageing. Castello di Gussago, with its organically certified vineyards, guarantees sustainable and environmentally friendly production, enhancing the natural qualities of the grapes. Harvested by hand at the perfect degree of ripeness and placed in 18 kg crates to preserve their integrity during transport to the winery, the grapes, once in the cellar, are immediately subjected to a soft and progressive pressing. This makes it possible to extract the flower must to be sent to alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. In the spring following the harvest, the base wine is then bottled and left in contact with the yeasts for at least 24 months. After disgorging, the bottles rest in the cellar for a further 5 months, allowing for further maturation and harmonisation of flavours. White gold in colour with light straw reflections, brilliant and crystalline, the NobleNoir has a fine, elegant and persistent perlage. The nose is complex and assertive, with delicate fresh fruit and mineral notes, followed by hints of acacia honey and dried fruit. In the mouth, finally, the Pinot Noir expresses itself to the full, offering a good structure, with a creaminess balanced by a fresh and persistent finish.
Castello di Gussago is one of those places where every element contributes to creating perfect harmony. Situated on Monte della Santissima in the municipality of Gussago, this ancient Roman and Longobard settlement is nestled in the picturesque Franciacorta region. From the top of the Barbisone hill, towers a monumental complex that, with its battlements, pinnacles and turrets, offers a fascinating spectacle to anyone heading from Brescia towards Lake Iseo. In this unique setting, the Castello di Gussago winery has found its ideal habitat. The beating heart of the winery is its 20 hectares of vineyards, which are distinguished by a variety of soils and exposures. Four of these hectares are located at high altitude, terraced and surrounded by the old convent, with clay-limestone soils ideal for viticulture. The other 16 hectares, distributed in the municipality of Gussago, are mostly located in elevated areas, characterised by loose moraine soils with a good skeleton component. Six hectares are destined for the production of Cabernet and Merlot grapes, used for the vinification of Curtefranca Rosso. The remaining 14 are reserved for the cultivation of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, used mainly for the production of sparkling wine base and for Curtefranca bianco.
