Wine production in Calabria is mainly focused on black berries, which account for about 80% of annual production. The most widely cultivated grape varieties are Gaglioppo, the most famous and widespread, but it is also possible to find Magliocco canino, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Greco Nero and Nero d'Avola, the latter also known as 'Calabrese'.
