Chile

The valleys of Chile are home to numerous international grape varieties, which produce excellent wines. The credit for the introduction of vines into the country goes to the Spanish missionaries: it was they who brought wine from Europe in order to better honour Christian celebrations. Among the first Chilean grape varieties is Pais, which is particularly widespread throughout the country and is still considered the country's most representative. However, there is no shortage of international grape varieties such as Sauvignon and Chardonnay, among the white varieties, and Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère, among the red ones. The most famous area dedicated to wine production in Chile is certainly that of Santiago, in particular the Maipo Valley, but also those of Casablanca and Aconcagua represent important wine-producing locations in the country. If you want to immerse yourself in a tasting of the most representative Chilean wines, choose a Carmenère red or a Sauvignon from those selected by our experts.
