CHARACTERISTICS
  • TypeVino spumante brut
  • Location Lombardy
  • Grapes Chardonnay 100%
  • Sensations Colour: medium intense lemon yellow. Intense aromas of fresh fruit such as apple, pear and lemon zest on the nose. Subtle floral background with hints of white flowers. In the mouth it is medium acid with an enveloping texture, fruity flavour and elegant balance. The finish is long and pleasantly dry.
  • Vinification The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed. The resulting Franciacorta bases are transferred for fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Here, the musts of the base wines ferment and remain until the following February/March. After this period, the wines are blended to ensure balance and complexity to the blend that will be bottled for the second fermentation in the bottle. Maturation on the lees continues for around 20 months. With disgorging, a mixture of must sugar (3.20 grams litre) is added to obtain a dry, yet rich and fresh Franciacorta.

    Franciacorta DOCG Brut
  • Vezzoli's Franciacorta DOCG Brut skilfully interprets the style of the sparkling wine region with artisanal care and a production philosophy that respects the fruit and nature. Characterised by an ideal microclimate thanks to its proximity to Lake Iseo and the cool currents of the Camonica Valley, the grapes in Franciacorta ripen perfectly in the field, naturally developing balanced sugars and acidity. This Brut is made exclusively from carefully selected, hand-picked Chardonnay grapes. The Vezzoli company applies the so-called Metodo SoloUva, an innovative technique that eliminates the use of exogenous sugars such as sucrose. Both refermentation and disgorgement take place with self-produced grape must, respecting the integrity of the fruit and the authenticity of the terroir. Ageing on the lees lasts about 20 months, giving the wine a fine perlage and aromatic complexity that emerges with elegance in the glass. Lemon yellow in colour with golden reflections, the expression of a mature and refined wine. On the nose, this Franciacorta releases intense aromas of fresh fruit, such as apple and pear, with citrus nuances of lemon zest and a delicate floral undertone of white flowers. The palate is dry, with good acidity and an enveloping texture. The well-integrated minerality lends depth and complexity, while the long, dry finish invites one to taste again. Ideal as an aperitif, it goes well with fresh, light seafood dishes such as oysters, salmon tartare or prawns.

Tradition and Innovation in a Sustainable Franciacorta. All this, and much more, is Vezzoli, an interesting reality in Franciacorta. The company, in fact, has its roots in the wine tradition of Franciacorta, a land renowned for its sparkling wines. For over a century, the Vezzoli family has handed down the passion for winemaking from generation to generation. In 1994, with the landing in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, the production of quality wines began. Here, Giuseppe, Maria, Dario and Jessica Vezzoli run the family-run business, personally involved in every stage of the production process, from the vineyard to the cellar. One of the special features of the Vezzoli winery is the use of the SoloUva method, a revolutionary choice compared to the traditional Metodo Classico. Since 2008, the company has developed an innovative technique involving the exclusive use of grape must for refermentation, avoiding the addition of exogenous sugars such as cane sugar. This method, specifically designed for the climate of Franciacorta, allows the terroir to be exploited to the full, bringing the pure expression of the terroir into the glass: wines rich in fruit and with an enveloping structure, fully expressing the personality of the area. Vezzoli has also chosen to embrace a sustainable approach, thanks to the Cu-Free philosophy, avoiding the use of copper, traditionally used as a fungicide, to preserve the microbial life of the soil and minimise environmental impact. Copper, in fact, although effective against vine diseases, tends to accumulate in the soil, compromising soil quality in the long term. This approach enables the company to ensure clean production and environmentally friendly viticulture, while upholding high quality standards.
