Ferghettina - Via Saline 11, 25030 Adro (BS), Italy
With a bottle like this, it's difficult for it to go unnoticed. It's the Franciacorta DOCG Brut Milledi by Ferghettina, a small Franciacorta masterpiece. A sparkling wine that challenges convention. A wine that comes from a bottle that isn't cylindrical, but square, to offer the yeasts a larger space and allow them to express their potential to the full. Pure elegance and complexity. It originates from Adro, in the heart of Franciacorta. Milledi is produced exclusively with Chardonnay grapes, one of the most noble and versatile vines in the world. Chardonnay is a vine that expresses itself extraordinarily well in the Franciacorta area, giving the wines elegance, finesse and a good ageing capacity. The process starts with the classic soft pressing of the grapes, followed by fermentation in steel and, after bottling, ageing on the lees for at least 48 months. The square bottle, designed by Roberto Gatti, owner of Ferghettina, allows the yeasts to act more effectively, creating a very fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, Milledi reveals an intense and complex bouquet, with notes of bread, yeast, yellow fruit, citrus and a pleasant minerality. In the mouth it is above all enveloping, balanced and persistent, with a pleasant mineral freshness that makes it perfect to accompany aperitifs and fish dishes.
Ferghettina is a company that has skilfully interpreted the potential of Franciacorta for over thirty years. Founded by Roberto Gatti, supported by his family and a team of experts, Ferghettina has grown to become one of the most prestigious names on the Italian wine scene. The company's vineyards extend over more than 200 hectares, distributed in 11 municipalities in Franciacorta. The terroir is characterised by morainic soils, rich in minerals, and by a continental climate mitigated by the presence of Lake Iseo. This unique combination offers the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, the company's main vines, the ideal conditions to best express their characteristics. Strongly committed to environmental sustainability, all Ferghettina vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic farming, respecting the ecosystem and guaranteeing the production of healthy and genuine grapes.
