The denomination, or rather the appellation, Côtes-du-Rhône is located in the southern part of Burgundy, an ideal extension of the Beaujolais region. This is a vast area that stretches from the French hinterland almost to the Mediterranean, covering over 41,000 hectares. Here the wines are often the result of a blend of different grape varieties, vinified separately and then blended in percentages that can vary depending on the vintage. This Saint Esprit Rouge, in particular, is the result of a vinification of Syrah grapes, in clear majority, with a small part of Grenache. Traditional vinification and ageing for about eight months in wooden barrels are the ingredients of its "recipe". The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful ruby red colour with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by the varietal aromas of Syrah. From red fruits and violets to liquorice and black pepper. In the mouth it is a pleasantly round, full and fine wine. A nice glass to propose to our friends at the next dinner.
