The area of origin of this winery certainly needs no introduction. We are in the heart of one of the world's best-loved wine territories, Burgundy. And in particular we are in the Beaune area. The estate, or rather the Domaine, of Bellene is housed in buildings steeped in history that date back as far as the 16th century. The purchase of the estate by Nicolas Potel dates back to 2005, which was followed by a long process of adapting the cellar to meet HQE (High Environmental Quality), in order to be consistent with the company's philosophy in the processing of wines. "We operate," reads the winery's website, "with minimal environmental impact. The company's vineyards are located between Santenay, Saint Romain, Volney, Beaune, Nuits Saint Georges and Vosne Romanée and are all between 50 and 110 years old. In the vineyard and in the cellar, work is carried out according to organic methods, without the use of chemistry, nor sugaring and acidification, in full respect of the priceless heritage of old vines, capable of producing a few very high quality grapes.
