    Château Bellegrave Pauillac 2021
  • Chateau Bellegrave produces this Pauillac, repeatedly recognized by the strictest international critics. The base blend, as is normal for the area, is based on Cabernet Sauvignon, which contributes more than 60 percent to the final blend. Backing it up is the most classic of companions, Merlot, which brings a nice note of fruit to the finished wine. Vinification involves a maceration period, with temperature control, lasting at least three weeks. After racking and malolactic fermentation, the wine rests in wood for several months before final blending and bottling. Ruby red with beautiful garnet hues, this Pauillac has intense aromas of red and dark fruit. Medium body, it has ripe, silky tannins. A wine capable of aging well for years to come, it goes well with red meat and game dishes.

Château Bellegrave is located in southern Pauillac, between Château Latour, Pichon-Longueville and Lynch-Bages. Its history is punctuated by several changes in ownership, most recently in 1954 when a certain Gabriel Meffre, a renowned nurseryman, bought several estates in the most prized areas of Bordeaux, including Saint-Estèphe, Pauillac and Saint-Julien. Today the estate is still run by his grandsons, Ludovic and Julien. Pauillac, according to experts, is one of the areas of choice for Cabernet-Sauvignon production. Here the grapes reach perfect ripeness, resulting in strong, elegant wines.
