Let us start with the region. Pauillac is one of the renowned sub-zones of the Bordeaux region. One of the most prestigious, thanks to the quality of the estates found here: from Château Lafite Rothschild to Château Latour and Château Mouton Rothschild. These estates are considered icons of the wine industry and produce wines of the highest quality, coveted by collectors the world over. The wines of Pauillac are characterised by a combination of elegance and strength. The predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wines of Pauillac powerful tannins and a solid structure, which combine with good acidity to create wines of great longevity. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, in particular, is made from a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the remainder. Manual harvesting is followed by a double selection on a vibrating table, before and after destemming, while the fermentation phase in vats lasts approximately 3 weeks. After racking, the wine matures in French oak barrels, at least 75% of which are new. In the glass it has a beautiful deep, intense and brilliant red-purple colour. The nose reveals a particular mineral freshness, combining fragrances of well-ripened black fruits, violets and spices. In the mouth, it reveals a precise attack, with ripe and delicate tannins. A perfectly balanced and elegant red, this Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste perfectly expresses all the richness and complexity of the great terroir of Pauillac.
