We are in the heart of the Médoc, and to be precise within the Pauillac appellation. Here we find Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a historic estate with a solid winemaking tradition. Lacoste-Borie, the estate's second wine, is a 5° Cru Classé. The Château's vineyards extend over gravelly, sandy soils on the banks of the Gironde estuary. Lacoste-Borie is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (56%), Merlot (36%) and Cabernet Franc (8%), typical Bordeaux grape varieties. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine structure, elegance and intense aromas of blackcurrant and black pepper. The Merlot adds softness and roundness, while the Cabernet Franc completes the bouquet with spicy and floral notes. In the glass it is a beautiful intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The nose is complex and fascinating, with fruity notes of mulberry and black cherry. Then hints of underbrush, liquorice and menthol notes. In the mouth there is a fine correspondence with what is perceived on the nose, with an elegant structure and well ripe tannins. A wine of great character, it offers a persistent and refined finish. Lacoste-Borie can be paired with red meat dishes and lamb.
