    • In Moulis-en-Médoc you'll find Château Maucaillou, a historic estate whose name ‘Maucaillou’ comes from Occitan and means ‘bad stone’, an ironic term considering that these ‘bad stones’, quaternary gravel from the Garonne, are the key to producing high quality wines. The terroir of Moulis-en-Médoc is characterised by gravelly and clayey-calcareous soils that favour optimal ripening of the grapes, contributing to the creation of structured and complex wines. ‘Le B par Maucaillou’ is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vinification process begins with the grapes being harvested by machine, followed by pre-fermentation maceration to extract the primary aromas. During the alcoholic fermentation, the temperature is controlled, with regular pumping over to favour the extraction of colour and tannins. The post-fermentation maceration lasts about three weeks, allowing the wine to develop greater structure and complexity. Deep purple-red in colour, it amazes the nose with aromas of fresh fruit, graphite, spices and intense notes of macerated black fruits.
