    Château Latour-Martillac Pessac-Léognan Rouge 2019
  • Never before has the saying 'union is strength' been so perfectly applied in a wine. In this Château Latour-Martillac, Pessac-Léognan red, every grape variety included in the blend finds a perfect fit. A simply perfect fit. The Cabernet Sauvignon, which, as is typical for the area, is the main grape variety, is characterised by its intense aromatic structure with notes of black fruits and liquorice. In the mouth, it offers a velvety yet powerful tannin that gently caresses the palate. The Merlot, for its part, adds softness and roundness, making the whole more harmonious. And last comes the Petit Verdot that brings lively tension, spicy notes and black fruits. All rendered harmonious thanks to the long passage in wood, a generous portion of which is first passage. Great elegance and a bright future.

Château Latour-Martillac takes its name from a tower in the castle's main courtyard. This is the last remaining intact part of a fortress dating back to the 12th century, placed to control the road from Bordeaux to Toulouse. Owned by the Kressmann family since 1871, Château Latour-Martillac was awarded the title of Cru Classé des Graves for red and white wines in 1953. Today, the property is managed by Tristan and Loïc Kressmann, who have a total vineyard area of 54 hectares, of which 45 are dedicated to red wine and 9 to white. The property, in an exceptional position within the appellation, is located on the Martillac plateau, where the soils are very varied but rich in gravel. Perfect soils for growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. White grape varieties, on the other hand, are found near the Garonne, where the soils are richer in clay and limestone.
