Chateau Lascombes Margaux-Cantenac, Francia
Château Lascombes, Margaux 2ème Cru originates from vineyards covering an area of 120 hectares in the appellation. Here, the soil is composed of a mixture of gravelly soils, clayey gravel and clay-limestone parcels, creating optimal conditions for growing vines. Château Lascombes is made from Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) and Petit Verdot (5%). The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selected and destemmed to ensure only the best quality. After a light crushing, the grapes undergo a 10-day pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation in barrels. The wine is then matured on its lees for 4 months, giving the final product a unique complexity and depth. Château Lascombes is distinguished by its complex nose revealing notes of elderberries, black cherries, spices, cedar and violets. In the mouth, it is full-bodied and structured, with elegant tannins and a fleshy structure that makes it perfectly balanced. The finish invites another sip. To be enjoyed with refined and succulent dishes. Excellent with grilled or braised red meats, mature cheeses and game dishes.
In the heart of Margaux, on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, lies Château Lascombes. Founded as far back as the 17th century by the Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes, this estate has seen as many as ten generations of passionate owners pass through the centuries, each helping to shape its legendary history. Situated on a vast estate of 120 hectares in the Margaux appellation and 10 hectares in the Haut-Médoc appellation, the vineyard of Château Lascombes covers an exceptionally diverse terrain. Here, the vines take root in a mixture of unique soils, from gravelly hills to clayey gravel to clay-limestone parcels, thus creating the perfect conditions for producing wines of extraordinary complexity and depth. In the vineyard, Merlot predominates, although Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot also contribute to the complexity and elegance that characterise the wines of this renowned estate.
