    Château Rouget Pomerol 2017
  • We are in Pomerol, an important wine enclave in the Bordeaux landscape, with a rich history and a production of high quality wines that continues to fascinate wine lovers around the world. It is no coincidence that some of the most famous and renowned producers in Bordeaux are located in Pomerol. Among these we would undoubtedly like to mention the 'mythical' Château Pétrus. As a small curiosity, Pomerol is one of the few Bordeaux appellations that has not been part of the official system since 1855. A relatively small region, the main grape grown in Pomerol is Merlot, which makes up the majority of the vineyards. Château Rouget, for example, is made from a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%). Bright and compact ruby red in colour, the nose of this wine reveals notes of black olives, dark fruit and sandalwood. A rich and varied bouquet that anticipates a pleasantly full-bodied sip, with velvety and soft tannins. Soft and fruity in the mouth, this Château Rouget captivates with its freshness and great ageing potential.

We are located in the heart of the Bordeaux region, within the Pomerol area, on the right bank of the river. Château Rouget boasts very ancient origins, although it is only mentioned in the cadastral archives since 1700. Even earlier, however, the quality of its terroir had been recognised, as far back as the end of the Roman Empire. It is therefore, in fact, one of the oldest estates in the denomination. It became part of the Labruyère properties in 1992. Today, Château Rouget has more than 17 hectares of vineyards, with plants of an average age of around 40 years.
