  • Sensations Colour: Dark red in colour. Smell: Wonderful fruity expression of redcurrant jelly, candied orange and spices. Palate: This aromatic precision is on the palate, with a tannic backing that provides length and balance to the whole.
  • Vinification Manual harvest. Traditional vinification. Maceration in temperature-controlled tanks for fifteen days. Fermentation during which pigeage and pumping over are carried out. Each grape variety is vinified separately and then blended before ageing. The wines are aged on fine lees in oak barrels for 10 months.

    Vacqueyras AOP 2021
  • Victor Berard's Vacqueyras is an extraordinary expression of the terroir of the Rhône Valley. This wine has an intense dark red colour, a prelude to refined aromatic complexity. On the nose, it reveals a splendid fusion of redcurrant jelly, candied orange and a touch of spices that lend depth and character. Each sip carries an aromatic precision that is reflected on the palate, where a robust tannic support ensures balance and long persistence. Produced from hand-picked grapes, this Vacqueyras is the result of traditional winemaking. The different grape varieties are vinified separately, with a fifteen-day maceration in temperature-controlled tanks. During fermentation, the pigeage technique and pumping over ensures a balanced structure. Ageing for 10 months in oak barrels on fine lees adds further elegance and complexity to the wine, giving it an extraordinary capacity to evolve over time. Perfect to accompany red meat dishes, game or mature cheeses, offering a unique and satisfying taste experience.

    The name Bérard is clearly of Germanic origin. Very common in villages in the Alps, it can be translated as ‘loner’, ‘mountaineer’ or even ‘bear’. However, the Bérnard family left the mountains to settle in lower Burgundy before the year 1000. Since then, there have been numerous traces left by family members in the different eras. Finally, in 1874, Victor Bérnard was born, founder of today's winery and awarded the prestigious ‘légion d'honneur’ for his commitment to the Chamber of Commerce. Died in 1938, Victor bequeathed the fruits of his labour. The company, which today has taken the name V. Bérnard et fils, was one of the first in France to sell wine in bottles rather than casks.
