    "Passocroce" Lagrein Trentino DOC 2019
  • Passocroce originates in a place of choice for Lagrein cultivation in the Cembra estates. We are on the eastern slope of the historic Doss Caslìr site. Here Lagrein ripens thanks to a favourable south-eastern exposure, with ancient roots in a sandy loamy soil with good clay content. Harvesting is by hand and begins in the third ten days of September. Once in the cellar, the grapes are first destemmed and then begin the delicate phase of fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Following processing, the wine rests for about a year and a half in contact with its yeasts, in 225-litre French oak barrels. After bottling, the wine then rests for about another six months in the bottle before release. Passocroce is a structured and elegant wine, characterised by a beautiful ruby red colour. The nose reveals clear aromas of berries such as currants, blackberries and blueberries, accompanied by hints of star anise, cocoa and tobacco. Time in bottle then favours the appearance of aromas reminiscent of violets, sometimes lilac and sage. A very pleasant red, this Passocroce is the right companion for a snack with friends or an all-meat dinner. It is also excellent with cured meats and cheeses and with the typical Trentino carne salada.

Corvée is a wine project that speaks of the Cembra Valley, enhancing the specificity of grapes rich in character, cultivated with effort, wresting land from the mountains, with terracing supported by dry-stone walls. A few members, four to be precise, a lot of dedication and a common idea, that of making great mountain wines. To do this, in the cellar (and before that in the vineyard) they combine traditional knowledge with the most modern winemaking techniques. All to make the most of what nature is able to bestow. Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Rhine Riesling, Pinot Noir, Lagrein and Schiava are the varieties cultivated, each at a different altitude. This gives rise to the lines of 'structured high altitude' wines, between 400 and 500 metres, the 'high altitude bubbles', Trento Doc, between 500 and 600 metres and the 'elegant high altitude', between 600 and 700 metres.
