The origins of Lagrein are lost in time. It seems that it was already cultivated in the 16th century by the Benedictine Fathers in Gries di Bolzano. Today it is widely diffused in all Trentino, to the point that someone hypothesizes that its name derives from that of Vallagarina. CAVIT offers it in this elegant version, produced from grapes harvested in the best exposed areas of the Adige Valley and Vallagarina, with good temperature range between day and night. Traditional red wine vinification, maceration and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel containers. Then, at the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the wine is put into oak barriques where the malolactic fermentation takes place and where it is aged for over a year. But that's not enough. Before bottling, in fact, the wine undergoes further aging in small oak barrels for another 4-6 months. The result is a beautiful glass of very intense ruby red colour, with hints of berries, and in particular raspberry, currant and blackberry, and clear hints of vanilla. In the mouth it is well structured, with a perfect balance between tannins and acidity. Easy to pair with satisfaction, it is a wine that goes well with hot appetizers, pasta dishes dressed with meat sauces or chicken cacciatora.
