    Franciacorta DOCG Blànc
  • Blànc, Franciacorta DOCG from Contadi Castaldi, is one of Italy's most awarded wines. It has won numerous international awards, including one at the Decanter World Wine Awards. It is made from a blend of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes. Grapes that come from 37 vineyards located high in the hills. As expected, the grapes are hand-picked and softly pressed. The must decants statically under cold conditions and then ferments in stainless steel with selected yeasts. It then matures for about 7 months in stainless steel, after which it is bottled and left to rest on the yeasts for at least 30 months. After disgorgement, it matures for a further 3 months in the bottle. A wine of great complexity, the Franciacorta DOCG Blànc has a brilliant straw yellow colour. The perlage is fine and persistent. The nose offers a broad and complex bouquet, with notes of yellow citrus fruits, almond, salt, broom and honeysuckle. In the mouth, it is elegant, fresh and mineral, with a full and persistent structure. To appreciate it at its best, this Franciacorta DOCG can be paired with fish dishes, shellfish and fresh cheeses. It also goes well with light first courses and appetisers. Complex and with great structure, this wine will surprise you with its quality.

Founded in 1991, Contadi Castaldi is one of the most popular wineries in Franciacorta. One of those wineries that, thanks to the quality of its wines and a more than enviable consistency of production, has over the years become a real point of reference for enthusiasts and experts alike. The company belongs, together with Bellavista, to the Moretti group. It was originally an old furnace that the visionary entrepreneur reconverted into a sparkling wine house. Its large spaces and long galleries, once used for firing bricks, in fact, proved perfect for ageing sparkling wines. One of the first wineries in Franciacorta to have developed the concept of Satèn, Contadi Castaldi offers a range of wines characterised by great elegance and distinct recognisability. The company currently has around 18 hectares of its own vineyards and is able to directly follow the entire sparkling wine production cycle, from the production of the base wines to the elaboration of the wines that must rest for several months on the lees in the cellar. If Franciacorta has now become almost synonymous with quality Italian sparkling wine, part of the credit must go to the commitment of fine wineries such as Contadi Castaldi.
