It is called Collezione Oro Blanc de Blancs and it is an Extra Dry sparkling wine, i.e. pleasantly soft, the result of the long experience in the world of wine of the Piccini family, one of the most renowned in Italy. This sparkling wine comes from a blend of three white grape varieties, which is why it is labelled Blanc de Blancs (white sparkling wine, produced from white grapes). We are talking about Glera, typical of the Veneto region and the basis of the famous Prosecco, Garganega, an indigenous grape from the Soave area, and Chardonnay, a unique international grape renowned for its ability to give life to wines characterised by elegance and structure. In the Collezione Oro Blanc de Blancs glass it is characterised by its bright and brilliant straw yellow colour. The nose reveals an intense and complex bouquet, with floral notes of wisteria, acacia and lily of the valley. Fruity aromas of pineapple, banana and white peach are also perceived. On the palate, the wine is fresh, balanced and persistent, with a pleasant savouriness and fine effervescence. An ideal sparkling wine for celebrating special occasions, it is perfect as an aperitif. Also good with delicate appetisers such as classic prawns in pink sauce.
They rightly call themselves 'The Italian wine family'. After all, what is now a huge enterprise that revolves around the work of 7 wineries, in Tuscany but not only, and that is able to put millions of bottles of wine on the market every year, originates from a single small plot of land in Poggibonsi. It was purchased in 1882 by Angiolo Piccini who founded his own company with his wife, Maria Teresa Totti. From that small plot, 7 hectares in all, the first Chianti straw flasks were produced. The rest is history, work and commitment. Today, Mario Piccini, the fourth generation of the family, runs the company. With him are his sisters Martina and Elisa and his children Ginevra, Benedetta and Michelangelo, all personally involved in the company's activities. Five of the family's seven estates are cultivated according to organic farming principles.
