It is spelled "Satèn" but read Franciacorta DOCG. This type of sparkling wine, reserved exclusively for Franciacorta DOCG, is always based on a wine produced exclusively from white grapes, Chardonnay, as in this case, or Pinot Bianco. Its main characteristic, however, is the moderate pressure in the bottle, which gives it a particular softness reminiscent of (precisely) silk. Essence Satèn is Antica Fratta's interpretation of this Franciacorta style, where citrus notes blend elegantly with hints of exotic fruits. Delicate effervescence, it is a non-vintage product, not vintage, which is matured in the bottle, as per Franciacorta DOCG regulations, for a minimum of 24 months. Straw yellow with golden hues, it has a particularly fine perlage and a soft, creamy froth. The nose is intense and harmonious. In the mouth, it is enveloping, elegant and persistent. It requires a delicate pairing. It is ideal as an aperitif but also accompanies delicate fish or shellfish dishes with real satisfaction.
Antica Fratta has a long history, closely linked to that of the Franciacorta region. Its origins date back to the mid-nineteenth century, when the Knight of the Grand Cross Luigi Rossetti, a wealthy wine merchant in the area, transformed an old farmhouse of the sixteenth century into his residence, renovating the old cellars dug into the rock of the hill on which rests the Villa and making them, as well as a showcase of excellence for his business, a personal jewel to preserve his selections. After the death of the knight, the property passed from hand to hand, until 1979, when the production of the modern Antica Fratta began. Over the years, the company has been able to push its horizons further and further, and has come to be consecrated as one of the great names of Franciacorta.
