Sparapani S.n.c. Via Barchio 12 - 60034 Cupramontana AN
We are in Cupramontana, in the province of Ancona. Here, the Sparapani winery, a beautiful family business, produces wines typical of the area, such as this Le Terre, Marche IGT Rosso that comes from a 70% Montepulciano blend, with Sangiovese and Merlot. As is standard practice for the Marche winery, the harvest is manual, with careful selection of the bunches to be sent for processing. Processing in the cellar begins with destemming and crushing of the grapes, followed by the alcoholic fermentation phase, at a controlled temperature. The process lasts about 10 days, followed by racking, malolactic fermentation and maturation. This takes place in oak barrels and lasts for about 12 months. Then, after bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for at least another 3 months before being put on sale. Ruby red in colour with garnet hues, the nose reveals an intense, fruity aroma reminiscent of ripe red fruits, with a slight hint of spice. In the mouth, it reveals a full-bodied, harmonious and soft wine, with a delicate tannin clearly evident. An easy wine to put at ease on the table, it is a splendid accompaniment to cured meats, roasts and game.
The Sparapani company is located in Cupramontana, in the heart of the Marche region. It has a long history dating back to 1933, when the family bought the current structure with the food shop business. In 1980, Settimio Sparapani took over his grandparents' business, dedicating himself to the cultivation and processing of Verdicchio. With him were his wife and three children, Giuseppe Paolo and Francesca. Thus was born the Sparapani Frati Bianchi winery, with reference to an adjacent hermitage. The rest is history, with the production of the prized Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore and Riserva, up to the vinification of pure Montepulciano grapes, aged in wood.
