      Montefalco DOC Rosso 2021
    • An important and well-structured red wine. These few words would be enough to describe the elegant Montefalco DOC Rosso of La Veneranda. With 65% Sangiovese, 25% Sagrantino and the rest Merlot, this Umbrian red wine has everything it takes to give great satisfaction to those who choose it to honour a dinner or lunch with friends, with the grill as the protagonist. It comes from a traditional vinification in steel. Contact with the skins lasts for about 15 or 20 days, at a controlled temperature, with daily pumping over to give the grapes time to release all their colour and rich tannins into the wine. After fermentation and racking, only stainless steel containers are used for final ageing. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful, intense ruby colour. The nose initially reveals an evident scent of red fruits, made more harmonious by the presence of Sagrantino. In the mouth, as already mentioned, one discovers a wine with good structure and a certain alcoholic power. Despite this, however, it is not a wine that is difficult to drink. Quite the contrary. The perfect balance between all its components, in fact, make it decidedly pleasant and harmonious.

La Veneranda is an exclusively female-run business. Eleonora Alessandrelli and Anna Rita Scarca take care of the farm at 360 degrees, committing themselves to the enhancement of the wines of Montefalco and the preservation of their beautiful land. Fourteen hectares of vineyards, in the municipality of Montefalco, are located at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. The soil here is sedimentary and slightly clayey in origin. Another two hectares are located in the area between Foligno and Spoleto. The vines, with excellent exposure, are up to 40 years old. The native vines of the region are cultivated, such as Sagrantino, Grechetto and the ever-present Sangiovese, the prince of central Italy. All stages of production, from the vineyard to the bottle and up to marketing, are scrupulously supervised within the company.
