"Otto Borghi" Rosso Marche IGT 2021
  • Journey to the heart of the Marche region, between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennines. This is where the Casalfarneto winery is located, offering this 8 Borghi, from a blend of grapes: Montepulciano (60%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%). The use of different varieties allows the winemaker to create a complex and articulated wine, with aromas and flavours that complement each other. The Montepulciano, in particular, provides structure and body, well supported by the trio of French grapes, which add softness, elegance and a delicate spicy finish. In this case, the grapes are harvested late to favour the concentration of sugars and aromas. Vinification takes place with very long macerations to extract the maximum amount of colouring and polyphenolic substances from the skins. Subsequently, the wine matures in French oak barriques for at least 18 months, acquiring complexity and harmony. Finally, it rests for a further 6 months in the bottle before being put on the market. In the 8 Borghi di Casalfarneto glass, it has a beautiful intense purple-red colour with violet reflections. The nose offers a complex and enveloping bouquet of ripe red fruits such as marasca cherry, blackberry and plum, enriched by spicy notes of leather, vanilla and chocolate. In the mouth it is warm, full and fruity, with soft tannins and a lingering finish. Its structure and complexity make it a perfect wine to accompany important meat dishes and mature cheeses.

Casalfarneto is located in the municipality of Serra de Conti, in the heart of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico area. We are about 320 metres above sea level. Today, the company can count on about 35 hectares of property, in addition to 6 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards. Of these, 28 are Verdicchio. With him Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. After all, Casalfarneto, which is one of the area's historic companies, having been in business since 1995, has always stood out for the care it takes in managing its vineyards and for its careful vinification in the absence of oxygen. The company's focus is, quite rightly, Verdicchio, which is exalted in all its myriad facets, thanks to different choices in terms of harvest periods, vinification and ageing techniques.
