Born in the heart of the Marche region, between the towns of Offida and Ascoli Piceno. We are talking about Rosso Piceno Superiore Brecciarolo from the Velenosi winery. A wine that, since its first vintage in 1984, has been able to conquer the taste of enthusiasts and experts alike. A true oenological jewel of the territory. The grapes that give life to Brecciarolo come from estate vineyards located 200-300 metres above sea level, where clay and limestone soils offer an ideal environment for growing Montepulciano and Sangiovese. The former, present at 70%, gives the wine structure, body and intensity, while the 30% Sangiovese gives elegance, finesse and a distinct aromatic freshness. Harvested by hand, in small crates, in mid-October. The grapes are then taken to the cellar where, after a stop in temperature-controlled cells, they ferment in steel for about 20 days. Ageing takes place in second-passage barriques, giving the wine complexity and softness. Ruby red with garnet highlights, the nose offers an explosion of aromas: pulpy red fruits, fresh violets, sweet spices and an intriguing mineral background. In the mouth, the wine is warm, full-bodied and harmonious, confirming the notes perceived on the nose. Rosso Piceno Superiore Brecciarolo is a wine well suited for special occasions and important dinners. Perfect with structured meat dishes, game or mature cheeses.
It all began at the hands of two very young entrepreneurs, Angela and Ercole Velenosi. The year was 1984. The company's head quarter is located in Ascoli Piceno, in the heart of the Marche region, about 20 kilometres from the Adriatic coast, at an altitude of about 200 metres above sea level. The company's estates are located in the hills, where clayey and fertile soils have always been considered ideal for growing grapes. There are four separate estates located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo del Tronto and Castel di Lama, plus a vineyard in the area of Ancarano, in the province of Teramo, and one in the area of San Marcello, in the province of Ancona, in the Castelli di Jesi. Velenosi wines are often awarded by the most severe national and international critics and are distributed in over 52 countries worldwide.
