    "Edda" Bianco Salento IGP 2022
  • Edda, "she" in Salento dialect, is the feminine and sensual soul of San Marzano. Bianco Salento IGP, born from a careful processing of grapes provided by the good farmers of the area. Predominantly Chardonnay, with the addition, however, of a blend of indigenous white grape varieties. Matured in contact with its own noble yeasts in French oak barriques for 4 months, all the while the wine undergoes weekly bâtonnage to keep the yeasts in suspension and increase the complexity of the finished wine. Loaded with Mediterranean suggestions, this Apulian white has a solid acidity, intertwined with an enveloping and elegant warmth. Savoury and mineral on the palate, it is a wine characterised by beautiful finesse and great longevity. Straw-yellow in colour with golden highlights, the nose reveals a floral and fruity bouquet. In the mouth, however, it is opulent but also fresh and delicate. A wine with great personality, it can easily be served throughout a meal. Excellent with classic seafood hors d'oeuvres, for example, it also accompanies fish-based first courses and fresh cheeses.

    San Marzano is a small town in the centre of the Primitivo di Manduria PDO. A strip of land between the seas that wash Apulia. It was here that 19 vine-dressers founded Cantine San Marzano. Long before the denomination of origin was created and the Primitivo di Manduria was recognised throughout the world. That was in 1962. However, it was not until 1996 that the first branded bottles were produced, triggering the transition from an economy based on bulk wine to the creation of a direct relationship with the end consumer.
