AOC Saint-Émilion is an appellation of controlled origin referring to wines produced in the region of the same name, in the Bordeaux area. This is undoubtedly one of the most interesting areas of the appellation, ideally located on a plateau with soils rich in limestone and clay. These unique characteristics make Saint-Émilion one of the most interesting areas for the production of red wines, Merlot-based, to which Cabernet Franc and, to a lesser extent, Cabernet Sauvignon may be added from time to time. Saint-Émilion Grand Cru wines are known for their elegance, complexity and structure. Just as in this case. Château Saintayme, 100% Merlot, is a splendid red, characterised by a beautiful ruby colour with deep garnet highlights and an exquisitely fruity soul. On the nose, it is easy to detect black and red fruit, i.e. currants, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries. In the mouth, however, the pleasantly fruity character is complemented by a subtle savoury and mineral note. Medium-bodied, it has creamy, smooth tannins and a long finish. The precision and finesse of the structure are simply 'impressive'. Super enjoyable, this Bordeaux red is the ideal snack companion. Excellent with cured meats and cheeses. Perfect with savoury, long-cooked meats.
