Poesia-Chateau Haut Villet - 33330 Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, Francia
Today we find ourselves in the beautiful hills of Saint-Émilion. Here comes Château Poesia Grand Cru, a wine that is well representative of its terroir of origin. The vineyards extend over clay-limestone soils, characterised by optimal drainage and a mineral richness that gives the grapes distinctive characteristics. Merlot accounts for 70% and Cabernet Franc for the remainder. The Merlot gives the wine softness, roundness and intense fruity aromas. The Cabernet Franc brings structure, elegance and a spicy note that completes the bouquet. Harvested by hand, the grapes are then fermented in stainless steel and cement vats. The long ageing in French oak barrels can last from 18 to 24 months and gives the wine complexity, harmony and an extraordinary capacity for ageing. Intense ruby red colour with garnet highlights, the nose reveals a complex and fascinating bouquet that opens with fruity notes of plum and black cherry, combined with spicy hints of black pepper and liquorice, and delicate floral nuances of violet. In the mouth, it conquers with its lively, silky structure and fine, velvety tannins. The persistent finish leaves an indelible impression. It goes well with red meats, game and mature cheeses. Try it with a roast lamb with thyme or a filet with green pepper.
Château Poesia is located in the heart of the renowned Saint-Émilion region, among vineyards and rolling hills. At its helm are Hélène Garcin and Patrick Levêque, two fascinating personalities driven by a deep passion for the world of wine. Both see the vineyard as a living entity, a pulsating organism requiring constant care and attention. Together, they share an ambitious project: to devote their work to the enhancement of exceptional terroirs, creating wines that encapsulate the essence of Saint-Émilion. Hélène and Patrick are actively committed to environmental protection, adopting sustainable farming practices that preserve the biodiversity and richness of the terroir. The use of natural winemaking methods, the exclusion of chemical pesticides and a focus on saving energy are just some of the key principles that characterise their work.
