This Dieci Grana, Salento IGP proposed by Masseria Trullo di Pezza, is the archetype of Apulian white wines. Fresh and immediate, with a beautiful personality due in large part to the warm and dry climate that reigns in these parts for several months each year. Dieci Grana, in particular, comes from a careful processing of grapes cultivated with the Bio method, so maximum respect for the environment and sustainability. In the winery, the grapes undergo destemming and crushing and a skin maceration period of 8-10 hours. Vinification then continues in white, with complete temperature control. Maturation of 3 months in steel tanks and one month's rest in the bottle. Straw yellow of great luminosity, this wine reveals a beautiful intensity on the nose, with herbaceous tones and a charge of white pulp fruit. In the mouth it is satisfying and marked by a nice verve of freshness and sapidity. Ideal as an aperitif, it goes well with first and second courses based on fish. It is also a fine choice with fresh cheeses and dairy products.
Trullo di Pezza can now count on about 32 hectares of vineyards, distributed in the vicinity of the Torricella winery, as well as in the territories of Maruggio, Lizzano and Manduria. We are in the province of Taranto, in the heart of green Apulia. It is no coincidence that the region's main grape variety, Primitivo, accounts for the largest area of production. But there is also room for Negroamaro, Fiano, Aglianico and Susumaniello. The vines take root in the much-vaunted 'red earth' of Salento, on a plateau dotted with centuries-old olive trees, not far from the sea. Here winters are mild and summers decidedly hot. The vineyard is tended organically, using natural products and, only in cases of extreme drought, emergency irrigation is used. The production heart of Trullo di Pezza is located in the farm of the same name. Here the entire winemaking process takes place outdoors, in an area of two thousand square metres, well harmonised with the surrounding greenery.
