  • AZIENDA VINICOLA FEDERICI ANAGNI ITALIA

"Granè" Passerina del Frusinate IGT 2023
  • Federici offers this Grané, Passerina del Frusinate, Lazio IGT, Organic. It is produced from grapes harvested in Anagni, in the Frusinate area, in vineyards located between 300 and 500 metres above sea level. Here, unlike in Rome, the climate is characterised by cold winters, with moderate rainfall, but above all cool summers, with average temperatures never exceeding 25 degrees. An area of ancient volcanic origin, the soils are rich in precious minerals and guarantee perfect ripening of the grapes, which are grown here using the traditional "tendone" system. Once in the cellar, the grapes are immediately subjected to soft cold pressing and then fermented at a low temperature, followed by weekly bâtonnage to obtain greater taste persistence. Before bottling, the wine then rests for at least 4 months in steel tanks. Straw yellow in colour with greenish highlights, the nose is intense, with hints of fruit and white flowers. In the mouth, on the other hand, it reveals a wine characterised by an enveloping and soft flavour, balanced and with good persistence. Served chilled, but not very cold, it pleasantly accompanies raw fish, savoury pies and vegetarian starters.

'On the bottles we put our family name, and we want everything to be done in our image and likeness'. This could be the slogan of the Federici winery in Zagarolo, in the province of Rome. Founded in 1960 by the grandfather of the current owners, Antonio Federici. It was a company that was the child of Italy's boom, of the dolce vita and that subtle carefreeness that we probably dream of today. 2001 marked the turning point. It is the moment when it is decided that, in order to produce with the right quality, one must also begin to cultivate one's own grapes and manage one's own vineyards. This is done by starting with typical local grape varieties such as Trebbiano, Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia and Grechetto, with Montepulciano and Sangiovese, to which international varieties such as Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon are added. The result is achieved. Federici's wines represent the ideal combination of tradition and that touch of novelty necessary to enliven it. Today, the vineyards, part estate and part from historic vintners linked to the Federici company by long-term agreements, are worked according to the guidelines laid down by Franco Bernabei, who coordinates the team of agronomists and oenologists, supervising the work. This is how the wines are created that have won awards and recognition from specialised Italian and international wine guides.
