    "Isaì" Sauvignon Lazio IGT 2023
  • Isaì and a wine from Lazio. A pure Sauvignon Blanc. Federici proposes it. Grapes from the Pontine plain, where the climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild winters, moderate rainfall and warm, well-ventilated summers. The soils, rich in sand, are perfect for the cultivation of France's best-loved aromatic grape variety, which in this case is processed in white, with light maceration of the skins. This is followed by soft pressing and long fermentation at a controlled temperature. At the end of processing, the wine matures for about 4 months in steel tanks before being bottled. In the glass, it has a beautiful intense yellow colour with slight greenish reflections. On the nose, the varietal characteristics stand out, such as tomato leaf, pepper and herbaceous notes, to a sweet finish reminiscent of peach. In the mouth, it is balanced, although the varietal notes noted above predominate. Fresh and persistent, it goes well with fish starters, shellfish and crustaceans.

'We put our family name on the bottles, and we want everything to be done in our image and likeness'. This could be the slogan of the Federici winery in Zagarolo, in the province of Rome. Founded in 1960 by the grandfather of the current owners, Antonio Federici. It was a company that was the child of Italy's boom, of the dolce vita and that subtle carefreeness that we probably dream of today. 2001 marked the turning point. It is the moment when it is decided that, in order to produce with the right quality, one must also begin to cultivate one's own grapes and manage one's own vineyards. This is done by starting with typical local grape varieties such as Trebbiano, Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia and Grechetto, with Montepulciano and Sangiovese, to which international varieties such as Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon are added. The result is achieved. Federici's wines represent the ideal combination of tradition and that touch of novelty necessary to enliven it. Today, the vineyards, part estate and part from historic vintners linked to the Federici company by long-term agreements, are worked according to the guidelines laid down by Franco Bernabei, who coordinates the team of agronomists and oenologists, supervising the work. This is how the wines are created that have won awards and recognition from specialised Italian and international wine guides.
