    "Vulcaia" Sauvignon IGT 2023
  • Vulcaia, and with it Vulcaia Fumè, was the first wine produced by the Inama company. It was the year 1991 and the Soave area had not yet achieved the necessary notoriety. But the great potential of this unique territory, characterised by volcanic soils capable of producing incredible wines, was already clear. However, the Inama winery is counting on a great international grape variety to start with. A Sauvignon that, by sinking its roots into such a special soil, gave rise to a completely new version of the French variety. The vine, as we read on the company's website, is tamed by the land, partly modifying the fragrances and aromas of the varietal. It is the terroir with its characteristics that dominates the vine and not vice versa. Vinified in stainless steel, this Sauvignon presents itself in the glass with a beautiful straw yellow colour. On the nose, citrus and sweet flowers. In the mouth it is pleasantly mineral, with notes of exotic fruit and citrus. The finish is long and persistent. A wine to offer when we want to pamper ourselves. To uncork with coquillage and oysters. But also with eggs and omelettes, or white horns. In short... He is versatile. And us?

    The history of the Inama winery is deeply linked to that of its founder, Giuseppe Inama, who for over forty years invested his energies in the vineyards on Monte Foscarino. What he considered, probably rightly, to be one of the most important territories in the Soave area. The winery is located in San Bonifacio, in the province of Verona. The first bottles produced by Inama date back only to 1991. The first wine was a Sauvignon, a new variety for the area, which was called "Vulcaia", to emphasise the uniqueness of a soil of ancient volcanic origin that deserved to be enhanced with careful vinification and attention to quality rather than quantity. Today the winery is run by Stefano, Giuseppe's son, who is proving to be one of the most eclectic winemakers in the area, capable of daring with innovative choices, often breaking with tradition. 30 hectares of land, mainly cultivated with white varieties, and conducted with passion and skill.
