Where the alberello is a Unesco Heritage Site, Kabir, Moscato di Pantelleria DOC is born, one of the good, indeed very good, fruits of the Zibibbo grape, or Moscato di Alessandria. It is proposed by Donnafugata, a Marsala-based company that declares itself "in love with the extreme nature of Pantelleria, a volcanic island between Sicily and Africa". The Rallo family landed here in 1989, launching an innovative project of quality and heroic viticulture. Kabir matures in vats for three months and then for a further three months in bottles before being marketed. Brilliant straw yellow in the glass, Kabir is characterised by a broad bouquet reminiscent of tropical fruit, with floral hints of orange blossom and delicate briny nuances. In the mouth echoes the fruity and sweet notes typical of the variety, perfectly balanced by the fresh mineral vein. Good persistence, with a delicately spicy finish. Perfect with anchovies, goat cheese, ice cream and fruit desserts. Try it with botargo and large smoked fish.
