Donnafugata

A winery that for many is synonymous with Sicily and quality wine. A historic brand owned by the Rallo family, Donnafugata produces wines in different areas of Sicily. The name Donnafugata is named after Gabriella Rallo, wife of the founder and mother of the two enterprising people currently running the company. Gabriella Anca Rallo, a courageous and innovative woman, was a pioneer of quality viticulture in Sicily. She is the real "donnafugata" (woman on the run) who abandoned her job as a teacher to take care of the Contessa Entellina vineyards full-time. One of the first women in Sicily to produce wine, in a sector typically dominated by men.
