A historic brand owned by the Rallo family, Donnafugata produces wines in different areas of Sicily. What few people know, however, is that the name Donnafugata is due to Gabriella Rallo, the wife of the founder and mother of the two enterprising managers of the company today. Gabriella Anca Rallo, a courageous woman with a flair for innovation, was a pioneer of quality viticulture in Sicily. She is the real "donnafugata" (woman on the run) who abandoned her job as a teacher to take care of the Contessa Entellina vineyards full-time. One of the first women in Sicily to produce wine, in a sector typically dominated by men. A true pioneer of quality wine-growing by women.
