      "Veritas" Bombino Nero DOCG 2024
    • Castel del Monte Bombino Nero DOCG Rosé Veritas by Torrevento is a wine that guarantees a fresh and harmonious taste. It comes from the heart of Puglia, in the area of Castel del Monte, famous for its imposing octagonal castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this area, in Contrada Pedale, the medium-textured calcareous-rocky soil is an excellent substrate for viticulture. The vineyards are located at an altitude of between 400 and 500 metres above sea level, benefitting from a unique microclimate that favours the growth of high quality grapes. Veritas is the offspring of Bombino Nero, a black grape variety introduced to Puglia in ancient times. Also known as ‘Buon vino’ (good wine) due to its vigour and high yield in terms of both raw material and must obtained, this vine is particularly appreciated for its ability to produce fresh and aromatic rosé wines, with good acidity and fruity notes. The harvest takes place between the end of September and the first ten days of October, when the grapes have reached optimal ripeness. After a soft pressing, the must ferments at a controlled temperature to preserve the delicate aromas of the vine. Ageing takes place in steel for 4 months, maintaining the freshness and liveliness of the wine. A pale pink colour, delicate and luminous, the nose reveals a floral bouquet, enriched by hints of raspberry and fresh strawberries. In the mouth it is graceful and fresh, with a harmonious balance that invites you to take the next sip. Designed to be drunk young, to fully appreciate its freshness and fruity aromas, Veritas is an extremely versatile wine at the table. It goes well with fish, white meats, risotto and medium-aged cheeses. Its freshness and lightness also make it ideal as an aperitif.

The history of Torrevento began over a century ago. In 1913, Francesco Liantonio, grandfather of the current president, embarked on the ship ‘Hamburg’ bound for New York at the age of sixteen, in search of fortune. In the United States, selling ice on the street, he managed to build up a small fortune that allowed him, in 1923, to return to his beloved Puglia. He settled in Palo del Colle and started producing and selling extra virgin olive oil and processing grapes. In 1948 the Liantonio brothers bought a former 17th century Benedictine monastery and 57 hectares of surrounding vineyards in the ‘Torre del Vento’ district, in the heart of the Murgia region of Bari. Then, in 1950, Gaetano Liantonio inherited the estate, renovated it and founded the ‘Vinicola Torrevento’, which became a limited liability company in 1989. The winery specialises in the production of Castel del Monte DOC wines and was one of the ‘pioneers’ in the rediscovery of Nero di Troia. Today Torrevento manages over 500 hectares of vineyards in Puglia, pursuing a balance between innovation and tradition. The winery bases its development on research, sustainability and quality, values that have guided the founders in creating wines of excellence representative of the culture and flavours of Puglia.
