Vin Santo del Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOC 2010
  • Impruneta, the production area of this fine Vin Santo Chianti Colli Fiorentini, enjoys a warm and temperate climate, with soils rich in marl and limestone. These unique pedoclimatic conditions, combined with the long experience of the wine-growers, create the ideal conditions for the production of the highest quality Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes. The Vin Santo Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG of Azienda Agricola Lanciola is produced according to a traditional method that has been handed down for generations. The dried grapes are pressed and the must obtained ferments in oak barrels, where it then matures slowly for at least seven years. During this long refinement, the wine develops its aromatic complexity and characteristic balanced sweetness. The colour is an intense golden yellow, with slight antique gold notes. The nose has a broad and complex aroma, with notes of yellow fruit, dried and candied fruit, apricot, acacia honey, orange peel and yellow flowers. In the mouth, however, the wine is sweet, soft and opulent, with a crisp acidity that balances the sweetness and gives freshness. The finish is long and persistent, with hints of candied fruit. A meditation wine, it accompanies Tuscan cantucci, fruit tarts and chocolate desserts. It is also an excellent companion for mature and blue cheeses.

Today we find ourselves at the Gates of Florence, but surrounded by greenery. A few kilometres from the city, in fact, on the undulating hills of Impruneta, near Pozzolatico, is the Azienda Agricola Lanciola. We are in the 'Colli Fiorentini' area, in the heart of Chianti Classico. Here the company can count on about 14 hectares, 10 of which are vineyards, with an optimal south-west exposure, on particularly suitable soils. We are about 300 metres above sea level and among the rows, in addition to the ever-present Sangiovese, there is also Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, as well as the indigenous Canaiolo and Colorino.
