"Camp Gros" Martinenga Barbaresco DOCG Riserva 2017
    • A sensory journey into the heart of Barbaresco, where Nebbiolo reigns supreme. It is here that this prestigious Barbaresco DOCG, Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga of the Marchesi di Grésy winery was born. The Camp Gros vineyard is located in the eastern part of the Barbaresco amphitheatre and enjoys a privileged position. It faces south-west, at an altitude of between 240 and 290 metres above sea level. This fortunate mix of conditions ensures that the Nebbiolo grapes ripen perfectly and acquire a unique character. The limestone-marl soil, with traces of sand and rich in fine sediments, gives the wine minerality and complexity. Vinification follows a traditional method, with alcoholic fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature and a prolonged maceration that can last up to 45 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously in cement, giving the wine greater softness and harmony. This is followed by ageing for about two years in French oak barriques and a year and a half in large Slavonian oak casks. Finally, the wine rests for a further two years in the bottle before being put on the market. Intense garnet red colour, lively and brilliant with light orange reflections that become more and more evident with age, the nose reveals intense notes of violets and rose petals. Then hints of jam, mountain hay, sweet tobacco and liquorice. In the mouth, its structure is remarkable. The tannins, well integrated, give a pleasant velvety sensation and a long persistence with balsamic notes. A meditation wine, this Barbaresco is perfect with game and red meat. It is exalted with mature cheeses of great character.

Where the history of wine is intertwined with the beauty of the landscape, in the heart of the Langhe and Monferrato, lies the ancient home of the Marquises of Grésy. With its 45 hectares of vineyards, Tenute Cisa Asinari focuses on the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties, including Nebbiolo, Arneis, Dolcetto and Barbera, which find their ideal habitat in these lands to express their full potential. The four wineries that make up the Tenute di Grésy - Martinenga, Monte Aribaldo, La Serra and Monte Colombo - each embody a precious piece of Piedmont's winemaking tradition. However, it is at Martinenga that beats the heart of the winery, a veritable amphitheatre of vineyards nestled in the evocative Barbaresco DOCG landscape. It is here that the Grésy family has jealously preserved its wine heritage since 1797.
