  • Bordeaux, in its many facets, is always a guarantee. Hard to go wrong with the taste. You certainly won't go wrong buying this Le Prélat de Pape Clément, 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Impossible to imagine a more Bordeaux-style cut than this. Super careful harvest, preceded by careful selection of the best grapes in the vineyard, processing takes place in stainless steel tanks. A very traditional winemaking process that culminates with a maturation phase in wood lasting about 14 months, in barriques of course. The result is a red characterized by a beautiful deep color and a distinctly fruity character. Berries, nuts and hazelnuts, chocolate and sweet spices. In the mouth, then, it proves to be a full-bodied wine with round tannins and a long and satisfying finish. An excellent companion for lunches and dinners with friends, it is at its best when paired with grilled red meats.

    Château Pape Clement owes its name to Pope Clement V, born Bertrand de Goth, who owned the estate in the 14th century. In 1299, Bertrand de Goth, then bishop of Comminges in the Pyrenees, was appointed archbishop of Bordeaux by Pope Boniface VIII. On that occasion he received as a gift from his brother Béraud de Goth a vineyard property in Pessac, then called "La Mothe" vineyard. Appointed pope in 1305 as Clement V, in 1309 Bertrand donated his vineyard to the archbishop of Bordeaux, which was bequeathed to his successors until the arrival of the French Revolution. Today the company is one of the most respected in the Pessac area, in the heart of the Bordeaux region.
