Via di Palaia, 39, 50022 Greve in Chianti (FI)
Greve in Chianti is the only municipality in the province of Florence that lies entirely within the Chianti region. This charming village is immersed in a landscape characterised by rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves, creating an ideal environment for viticulture. The soils, very clayey and with a high calcium content, give the wines a solid structure and a distinctive minerality. Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva represents one of the highest expressions of the Chianti Classico denomination. The Riserva, in fact, has high quality standards and a minimum ageing of 24 months. This classification guarantees a high quality product, an authentic expression of the territory. The Riserva from Tenuta La Madonnina is made 100% from Sangiovese grapes, the grape variety that symbolises Tuscany. The vinification process initially involves maceration on the skins for 15-18 days in 150-hectolitre stainless steel fermenters. During this phase, up to four délestage and daily pumping over are carried out at a controlled temperature. At the end of the fermentation process, the wine is aged in 50-hectolitre oak barrels for 24 months and then in the bottle. This Riserva has an intense red colour tending towards garnet. The bouquet is intense and varied, spicy with notes of sweet violet, fresh figs, vanilla and liquorice. In the mouth it is rich, full and multifaceted. With the passing of the years it acquires softness and elegance. But it can also be appreciated immediately, to fully enjoy its natural vivacity. In any case it goes perfectly with tasty dishes such as Florentine steak, roast red meat, game and mature cheeses.
Today we find ourselves in the heart of Tuscany, in the municipality of Greve in Chianti. Here is Tenuta La Madonnina, acquired by the Triacca family in 1969. The beautiful estate covers a total area of 345 hectares, of which 100 are dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards. Originally used as a hunting lodge, the property underwent a significant transformation over the course of a decade, culminating in the first harvest in 1975. Subsequent expansions in 1987 and 1990 helped to consolidate its reputation as a favourite destination for lovers of Chianti Classico. La Madonnina is located at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, a position that favours the cultivation of high quality grapes. The vineyards are composed of 85% Sangiovese, the symbolic grape of Tuscany, while the remainder is divided between Cabernet Sauvignon (7%), Colorino (5%) and Merlot (3%). This diversification allows the production of wines that best express the characteristics of the territory.
