  • Vinification Located between the last foothills of the Chianti mountains and the initial part of the Ombrone valley, Fèlsina covers an area of approximately 600 hectares, 95 of which are dedicated to vineyards. From a geological point of view, Fèlsina is a "borderland" between Chianti Classico and the Crete Senesi, in the direction of Montalcino. Calcareous-petrous in nature with a predominance of lamellar marl typical of Chianti, or formed of stratiform sandstone with alluvial pill and clay, mixed with marine sediments rich in minerals, the soils impart unitary and specific characteristics to the wines of Fèlsina, whose nuances are the daughters of the singularities and movements of the territory. The result of a unique combination of soil and vine, culture and hard work, winemaking science and the wisdom of the cellarman, the vines of Fèlsina express the particularity of the terroir, landscapes, scents and sounds of this corner of Tuscany, bringing history and tradition to life.

Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva DOCG Farnetella 2019
  • It is made from Sangiovese grapes, with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva DOCG is the product of grapes harvested in the vineyards of Farnetella, in the municipality of Sinalunga, spread over a wide and well-exposed hillside at an altitude between 400 and 470 metres above sea level. At the end of vinification, between March and April following the harvest, part of the mass, about 50%, is transferred to medium-sized barrels and second and third passage barriques. This completes the maturation of the wine after about 12-16 months, followed by blending and bottling. At that point, before going on sale, the wine rests for at least another 6 months in the cellar. Intense ruby red in colour with light violet hues, the nose is dominated by aromas of ripe blackberry and blueberry, with clear floral notes of aniseed and Mediterranean scrub. On top of all this, there are hints of minerals and a pleasant toasting in the background. In the mouth it reveals an excellent drinkability, with soft tannins, good acidity and structure. The finish is long and enveloping, with notes of black cherry and light vanilla.

Castello di Farnetella is an estate of 432 hectares, 56 of which are planted with vines, in the commune of Sinalunga in the province of Siena. The place-name Farnetella originates from the oak, a tree of the oak family that grows in great quantity in the area and is also visible in the coat-of-arms of the village and of the estate, a symbol of strength and longevity. Since 1981, Castello di Farnetella has been part of the group of fine wineries owned by the Poggiali family, which owns the Fèlsina farm in Castelnuovo Berardenga.
