It is no coincidence that Chianti is one of the most popular red wines in the world. It is enough to uncork a bottle to understand that the Tuscan par excellence is a fabulous ambassador of its territory. Unconventional like any good Tuscan, it has that touch of rusticity that one likes and a strong and sincere character. Uggiano offers it here in a Riserva version, the Lucere, which comes from a blend of 90% Sangiovese and the rest Canaiolo. Fermented with maceration at a controlled temperature and matured in 30 hectolitre Slavonian oak casks for about 8 months, this red wine has all the credentials to give us an evening of pure pleasure. As soon as it is poured into the glass we discover a wine characterised by a beautiful ruby red colour with garnet hues. The bouquet is complex, with notes of black cherry, wild berries and violets. In the mouth it is rightly tannic but well balanced thanks to a rich ripe fruit. You can't go wrong at the table. As long as the dish is Tuscan and authentic. Excellent with classic pici and tagliatelle with sauce, ribollita and good Tuscan soups. But also with roast meats, crostini or Tuscan cold cuts.
What does Bergamo have to do with Tuscany, and with Chianti? A great deal in the case of Uggiano. A group of entrepreneurs from Lombardy with a passion for wine made in Tuscany began to shape Uggiano in the 1970s, driven by a genuine passion for the wines of the region. Inspired by Giuseppe Losapio, an oenologist of the French school, the protagonists of our story embarked on a path of growth that in 1976 led them to a first major expansion and the move to the green town of San Vincenzo a Torri (FI), in the heart of Tuscany. Today, new generations have taken up the Losapio legacy, and the discourse on Tuscan wine is conducted with the same rigour, and with a passion that has never waned in Uggiano.
