Via di Palaia, 39, 50022 Greve in Chianti (FI)
Among the rolling hills of Greve in Chianti is where the Chianti Classico DOCG Bello Stento of Tenuta La Madonnina is born. Greve is considered the gateway to the Chianti Classico wine region that extends between Florence and Siena. Here the landscape is enchanting, characterised by rolling hills, oak forests and cypress trees. The area offers an ideal microclimate for growing vines, with predominantly clayey soils with a high calcium content. 100% Sangiovese, the prince of Tuscany, the vines of Bello Stento are long-lived and vigorous. The vinification process involves maceration on the skins for 10-15 days in 150-hectolitre stainless steel fermenters. During this phase, up to three délestage and daily pumping over are carried out. At the end of fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months, again in stainless steel, to preserve the freshness and aromatic integrity of the wine, enhancing the varietal characteristics of Sangiovese. Visually, Bello Stento has an intense bright red colour. The nose reveals a lively and fresh bouquet, with predominant notes of sweet violet and black berry fruits. In the mouth it is distinguished by a good acidity, a fruity, dry and harmonious taste. The structure is pleasant and not excessive, making Bello Stento an ideal wine for everyday drinking. It goes well with meat dishes such as Florentine steak, roasts and game. It is also perfect with pasta dishes with strong sauces and typical Tuscan cuisine.
Today we are in the heart of Tuscany, in the municipality of Greve in Chianti. Here you'll find Tenuta La Madonnina, acquired by the Triacca family in 1969. The beautiful estate covers a total area of 345 hectares, 100 of which are dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards. Originally used as a hunting lodge, the property underwent a significant transformation over the course of a decade, culminating in the first harvest in 1975. Subsequent expansions in 1987 and 1990 helped to consolidate its reputation as a favourite destination for lovers of Chianti Classico. La Madonnina is located at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, a position that favours the cultivation of high quality grapes. The vineyards are composed of 85% Sangiovese, the symbolic grape of Tuscany, while the remainder is divided between Cabernet Sauvignon (7%), Colorino (5%) and Merlot (3%). This diversification allows the production of wines that best express the characteristics of the territory.
