    CHARACTERISTICS
    • TypeVino spumante brut
    • Location Piedmont
    • Grapes Pinot nero 75%, Chardonnay 25%
    • Sensations Characterised by a straw yellow colour, with a very fine, intense, rich and persistent perlage, Gancia Cuvée 36 Mesi Brut has a pleasant aroma, with intense notes reminiscent of vanilla and bread crust. The balanced and structured taste confers good fragrance, minerality and a long finish.
    • Vinification The grapes are very gently pressed using a Marmonnier press in the historic cellars dating from the early 19th century – recognised as a World Heritage Site – where only the heart of the must is vinified. The must from each pressing and batch is fermented both in barriques and in steel tanks until the cuvée is prepared and the wine is racked for the second fermentation in the bottle on the lees for about 40 days. This is followed by ageing on the lees for at least 36 months at a controlled temperature.

Alta Langa DOCG "Cuvèe 36 mesi" Brut 2017
    • Imagine a territory where the hills stretch as far as the eye can see, creating a landscape that is unique in the world. Here, in the famous Langhe, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, Fratelli Gancia's Alta Langa DOCG 36 mesi Brut is born. It's worth remembering that Alta Langa DOCG is one of the most prestigious designations for Italian sparkling wines. Created to enhance the wines produced in this area using the classic method, its strict regulations require a minimum ageing period of 30 months on the lees. Specifically, the one proposed here by Gancia exceeds this threshold, reaching 36 months of maturation, to guarantee greater complexity and structure. The vines used are Pinot Noir (75%) and Chardonnay (25%), both cultivated in the vineyards of the Alta Langa. These grapes, harvested by hand, are subjected to soft pressing using a Marmonnier press, an ancient technique that preserves the integrity of the skins and the aromas. Only the heart of the must, the ‘flower’, is then vinified, partly in barriques and partly in steel tanks. This is followed by a second fermentation in the bottle and a long ageing on the lees, which gives the wine its elegance and complexity. On the nose, Alta Langa DOCG 36 mesi Brut has a straw yellow colour with a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is reminiscent of vanilla and bread crust, with a touch of minerality typical of the territory. In the mouth it is balanced and structured, with a good flavour and a long and enveloping finish. Finally, the residual sugar content (7 g/l) makes it a perfect Brut for those seeking freshness and harmony. It's perfect with seafood appetisers, raw fish, delicate risottos and aged cheeses, but it also lends itself as a wine for meditation, to be savoured on special occasions.

Since 1850, Cantine Gancia has been a symbol of excellence in the Italian wine scene, with a history that is intertwined with that of Italian sparkling wine. Founded by Carlo Gancia, a Piedmontese visionary, the company has been able to combine tradition and innovation, becoming a global point of reference for lovers of wine and quality aperitifs. After studying in Reims, France, Carlo Gancia returned to Italy with the ambitious goal of creating a sparkling wine that could compete with the best French champagnes. And so, in 1865, after years of experimentation, the first Italian Classic Method Sparkling Wine was born, made with Moscato grapes, a native variety of Piedmont. This wine, called Moscato Champagne, marked the beginning of a revolution in the world of Italian sparkling wine, laying the foundations for what would become one of the most innovative companies in the sector. But Gancia's innovation didn't stop there. At the end of the 19th century, the company launched the first Vermouth, a unique product made without the addition of caramel, based on an infusion of aromatic herbs and a Moscato base. This Vermouth, which won an award at the International Fair in Chicago in 1893, became a model for all subsequent producers, further consolidating Gancia's role as a pioneer in the sector. Today, Cantine Gancia is a global brand, present in over 70 countries with a range of products that includes Metodo Classico and Charmat sparkling wines, aperitifs, vermouth, bitters and gin. With a production capacity of over 40 million bottles a year and marvellous historic cellars, the company combines industrial production with artisan attention to detail, guaranteeing quality and authenticity at every stage of the process.
