The vineyards of Fattoria di Magliano, in this case located between 150 and 250 metres above sea level, enjoy a mild climate and medium-textured soil rich in skeleton, which gives the wine minerality and structure. Morellino di Scansano DOCG, recognised in 2007, is one of the most prestigious designations in Tuscany. A good example is this Heba, produced with a blend of Sangiovese (95%) and a touch of Syrah (5%). The latter adds pleasant spicy and floral notes to the finished wine. The grapes are harvested by hand, with careful selection of the bunches. The vinification process involves destemming and soft pressing, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Part of the malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel, while another part in barriques. The subsequent refinement takes place in cement barrels for 8 months, followed by another 6 months in the bottle before being released on the market. The wine is not filtered, to preserve its naturalness and complexity. Heba has an intense ruby red colour. The nose perceives fragrant and floral aromas, with hints of cherry, blackberry, blueberry, geranium and violet. In the mouth it is soft, balanced, dry and pleasantly tannic. A young wine, ready to drink, it is ideal to be enjoyed within a few years of the harvest. On the table it accompanies white and red meats, game, pasta and cheeses.
Founded in 1996 by the Lucca entrepreneur Agostino Lenci, Fattoria di Magliano was born from a passion for an area that is still uncontaminated and rich in enological potential. Lenci, fascinated by the wild and unspoilt Maremma, invested in the creation of a winery that would respect and enhance the surrounding environment. The estate covers 97 hectares, 48 of which are dedicated to vineyards. The main varieties cultivated are Sangiovese and Vermentino, together with international vines such as Merlot and Petit Verdot. The soil, which is sandstone with a significant presence of stones, guarantees excellent drainage and gives the wines a marked minerality. In addition, an innovative drip irrigation system optimises the use of water, especially in drier years. The farm's wines are distinguished by their strong territorial identity and a style that combines tradition and innovation. They are powerful and elegant wines, capable of offering an enveloping sensorial experience and a great taste-olfactory impact.
