A big, rich red with blackberry, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. It’s full and layered. Just a baby. Reflects the ripeness of the vintage, yet shows energy. Better after 222.

    Mormoreto Toscana IGT 2020
  • Lamberto Frescobaldi writes, "walking among the rows of Cabernet and Petit Verdot, my thoughts always turn back to 150 years ago, when my ancestors first planted these varieties with the desire to produce a great wine. A goal that, we can now say with absolute certainty, has been realised in this bottle. Since 1983, Cru Mormoreto has been producing a wine with a vibrant, deep and harmonious character. And since 2013, a small amount of Sangiovese has further emphasised its elegance. The Mormoreto vineyard is located at an altitude of about 300 metres above sea level, on sandy soils, with a south-westerly exposure. The 2018 harvest yielded perfectly ripe grapes with a nice acidic streak. After vinification, Mormoreto is aged in French oak barrels for about two years, taking full advantage of the natural micro-oxygenation provided by the wood. Then, after bottling, the following months of refinement allow Mormoreto to balance itself, expressing its full elegance and potential. Intense and brilliant ruby red in colour, its bouquet is intriguing and ranges from notes of fruit such as cranberry, raspberry, fig jam and black cherry, in perfect balance with spicy and balsamic notes. In the mouth, however, it is fresh, complex, persistent, balanced and round.

Thirty generations and over 700 years of history. With these two "business cards", the Frescobaldi company presents itself on markets throughout the world as an absolute protagonist with the objective of being the most prestigious Tuscan wine producer. Today the company can count on an immense area of vineyards. We are talking about over 1000 hectares, scattered in the most interesting wine-growing areas of the region. The annual production is around seven million bottles and includes all the most important denominations, from Chianti to Pomino, Montalcino and Maremma. In each area, traditional varieties are cultivated, thanks to a perfect knowledge of the specific terroirs. Never as in this case ... experience really makes the difference.
