Where the land meets the sea, a wine is born that tells the story of the most authentic Maremma. This sentence encapsulates the essence of Poggio Bestiale, an organic red wine produced by Fattoria di Magliano. The Tuscan Maremma is a land of contrasts, where rolling hills alternate with barren plains and the Mediterranean scrub fills the air with the scent of aromatic herbs. The vineyards of Fattoria di Magliano, located 250 metres above sea level, enjoy ideal exposure and medium-textured soil rich in rock fragments, perfect for the cultivation of quality vines. Poggio Bestiale is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Cabernet Franc (35%) and Merlot (20%), international grape varieties that have found an ideal habitat in the Maremma. Fattoria di Magliano uses organic farming methods, respecting the environment and biodiversity. The grapes are harvested by hand, with careful selection of the bunches. Vinification begins with destemming and soft pressing, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The post-fermentation warm maceration and ageing in French oak barriques for 18 months give the wine structure, complexity and elegance. Intense ruby red colour, the nose perceives aromas of cherries, cloves, black pepper and balsamic herbs. In the mouth it is structured, enveloping and elegant, with rounded tannins and a good freshness. Poggio Bestiale should be uncorked when you have red and white meats, roasts, game and mature cheeses on the table. Its structure and complexity make it an ideal wine to accompany rich and flavoursome dishes.
Founded in 1996 by the Lucca entrepreneur Agostino Lenci, Fattoria di Magliano was born from a passion for an area that is still unspoilt and rich in wine-making potential. Lenci, fascinated by the Maremma for its wild and unspoilt nature, invested in the creation of a winery that would respect and enhance the surrounding environment. The estate covers 97 hectares, 48 of which are dedicated to vineyards. The main varieties grown are Sangiovese and Vermentino, together with international varieties such as Merlot and Petit Verdot. The sandstone soil, with a significant presence of skeleton, guarantees excellent drainage and gives the wines a marked minerality. In addition, an innovative drip irrigation system optimises the use of water, especially in the driest years. The farm's wines are distinguished by their strong territorial identity and a style that combines tradition and innovation. They are powerful and elegant wines, capable of offering an enveloping sensorial experience and a great taste-olfactory impact.
