A unique and special wine, a beautiful expression of the Cahors region, where the history of wine is intertwined with that of the Knights Templar and where Malbec reigns supreme. Cahors Les Laquets from Domaine Cosse & Maisonneuve is a red wine that seduces with its intensity and elegance, a true ‘black wine’ that expresses a passion for viticulture and respect for the terroir. This wine is made from grapes grown in vineyards located on the clay-limestone soils typical of the appellation. They are mainly responsible for the rich structure and complexity of Malbec. Moreover, thanks to the river Lot, the Cahors area enjoys a temperate climate with Atlantic influences, ideal for the ripening of the grapes. It is no coincidence that some of the oldest vineyards in France are found here. Some even date back to Roman times. In the countryside, Matthieu Cosse practices organic and biodynamic agriculture, respecting the environment and biodiversity. In the cellar, on the other hand, indigenous yeasts are used to preserve the natural expression of the terroir. The wine is then aged in new barriques for a period ranging from 18 to 22 months, acquiring complexity and smoothness. In the glass Les Laquets has an intense red colour, almost black, which anticipates its power. The nose reveals a complex bouquet of ripe black fruits, spices, toasted and balsamic notes. In the mouth, finally, it reveals great structure, with velvety tannins and a remarkable aromatic persistence. It goes well with red meat, game, mature cheeses and all those dishes that require a wine with character.
