      "Le Dragon de Quintus" Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2018
    • Dragon de Quintus is what is known in the trade as a 'second wine', offered by Château Quintus. 75.2% Merlot and 24.8% Cabernet Franc, this Bordeaux red enjoys excellent value for money. A characteristic that makes it simply ideal on more than one occasion. Despite the fact that it is the house's little brother, all the stages of its production certainly do not lack care and attention. Starting with the careful selection of the best bunches in the vineyard to bring to the cellar only the best grapes, those that are healthiest and have reached a perfect level of ripeness. Vinified at a low temperature, each stage of the production process is designed to favour a gentle extraction. Then, after racking and malolactic fermentation, the wine is placed in 225-litre oak barrels for the delicate maturation phase. Approximately one third of the barrels used are first-passage. The colour is lively and evokes a beautiful ruby hue. On the nose, it beautifully combines the most typical fruity fragrances with fresh notes of pomegranate. Floral hints reminiscent of violets complete the rich bouquet. In the mouth, the attack is soft and 'finely woody'. The pleasant, ripe tannins combine perfectly with intense notes of red fruit.

      Château Quintus is a fine property resulting from the union of two estates, Château Tertre Daugay and Château L'Arrosée, acquired by Domaine Clarence Dillon in 2011 and 2013 respectively. Château Quintus is thus the fifth property of the Domaine, along with Châteaux Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. Hence the name "Quintus", traditionally given to the fifth sons in the Gallo-Roman tradition. Château Quintus has a vineyard of 42 hectares, unique in its mosaic of terroirs. The vines have an average age of 30 years and are planted on a beautiful plateau that guarantees perfect exposure and ideal ripening.
