Lovers of indigenous grape varieties, step forward. What Maison Anselmet offers here is a real gem. La Touche Rouge, in fact, is a young, ready-to-drink red wine. A creation of the house winemaker who has had fun blending some of the region's most interesting red grape varieties such as Petit Rouge, Cornalin, Mayolet and Fumin. These are all vines that love the cold climate of the Valle d'Aosta but reach perfect maturity thanks to the warm sun of the Alpine summers. We are between 700 and 900 metres above sea level and the great temperature range between day and night favours the appearance of intense and elegant aromas. Classic red vinification and refinement in stainless steel give life to a wine characterised by a beautiful intense ruby red colour with purple hues. On the nose the scents are those of underbrush and jam, while in the mouth it is full, with notes of black cherry that lead to an intriguing closure with particular blood notes. A strongly territorial red wine that requires a typical pairing. Excellent, for example, with polenta with cheese or a classic savoury soup.
It takes a certain amount of heroism to decide to make wine in the Aosta Valley. And obviously a pinch of madness too. Qualities that are certainly not lacking in the Anselmet household, which has been involved in this since ancient times. It seems, in fact, that the first traces of an Anselmet working among the vines and barrels at the foot of Mont Blanc date back to 1585. Since then, from father to son, the Anselmet family has gradually consolidated its relationship with the mountains and, in 1978, Renato Anselmet created the winery that we all know and appreciate today. Anselmet harvests high quality grapes from its excellently exposed vineyards located between 600 and 900 metres above sea level. Traditional and autochthonous vines that are processed with passion and skill in the beautiful cellar of Villeneuve, in the province of Aosta, and then reach markets all over the world. Collecting, ça va sans dire, the most prestigious prizes and awards.
