Château Rioublanc, 61 Rue Riou Blanc, 33910 Saint-Ciers-d'Abzac, Francia
Château Rioublanc's Bordeaux Blanc comes from the commune of Saint-Ciers-d'Abzac, north-east of Bordeaux. Here the Château stands on a plateau of clay and silica, with ferrous inclusions that give the wines a unique structure and unmistakable elegance. This corner of France, less well known than other areas of Bordeaux, is a real hidden gem, where the vineyards extend between woods and small streams, creating a microclimate ideal for viticulture. This wine is a particularly balanced and pleasant blend of three grape varieties: Sauvignon (60%), Sémillon (30%) and Colombard (10%). The grapes are picked by hand and pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery. The must is then cooled for several days of cold stabilisation, enhancing the aromas and giving it great richness. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is aged on the fine lees, acquiring greater complexity and smoothness. The nose is regal with an intense and elegant aromatic profile. There are notes of pear, peach, citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit, and white flowers. In the mouth, the attack is fresh and lively, with good volume and a long and pleasant aromatic persistence. Intended to be drunk young, when its aromas are at their maximum expression, it goes well with fish dishes such as baked sea bass or oysters. It's also excellent with fresh salads and goat's cheese.
We're in Bordeaux, among rolling landscapes and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Here stands Château Rioublanc, a beautiful winery based in Saint-Ciers-d'Abzac. It's a small family domaine, run with passion and dedication by Philippe Carretero since 1989. With 47 hectares of certified organic vineyards, Château Rioublanc is an example of how the harmony between man and nature can give life to excellent wines. The land of Château Rioublanc is characterised by a plateau of clay and silica, enriched by deep ferrous inclusions that give the wines a unique structure and unmistakable elegance. Here, the varieties cultivated reflect the richness of the Bordeaux region: for the reds, Merlot dominates unchallenged, flanked by Cabernet Franc and a small percentage of Malbec, which adds complexity and depth. Among the white wines, Sauvignon, Sémillon and Colombard stand out, the latter also used for the production of Crémant, sparkling wines that are a real gem of the company, appreciated for their freshness and finesse. The production philosophy of Château Rioublanc is based on respect for the environment and the search for quality. With an annual production of about 120,000 bottles, the company manages to perfectly combine tradition and innovation.
